Solar Storms is an expansive setting, taking place some ten thousand years in the future, in Earth-based timeframe. Most humans currently use the Helios calendar instead, which essentially measures the raw number of hours that have passed since an ancient eclipse, widely documented as the founding of Rome and even mentioned in the Bible. Currently, it is the 120th cycle, with a cycle representing a million hours or about 114 years.
