Attributes are measurements of quantifiable aspects of your character.

Primary Attributes

Physical:

  • Physique (PHY)
  • Agility (AGI)
  • Reflexes (REF)

Mental:

  • Psyche (PSY)
  • Perception (PER)
  • Awareness (AWS)

Spiritual:

  • Spirit (SPR)

Physique In addition to physical strength, this also represents the resilience of your body. A high Physique score does not necessarily equate to rippling, well-defined muscles; in addition to the 'quality over quantity' aspect of that, it's a commonly observed fact that Awakened beings tend to have strength and stamina beyond what their appearances, and even medical analysis, would suggest.

  • Large factor in determining damage resistance (How? Was going to be Str/End, but can't do PHYdPHY, and SPRdPHY would require damage to be scaled down. Maybe something like REFdPHY?)
  • Physical damage! (The alternative to this is splitting it back to Str/End and making Str be damage, or part of damage, for some magic things...)
  • Presumably life pool (it's starting to look like a rather uber stat).

Agility Beyond its namesake, this also measures (though not precisely) one's acceleration and maximum speed. High agility allows one to outmaneuver

  • Maybe: Initiative, dodges, damage reduction
  • Probably not: one of the pools

Reflexes

  • Maybe: Initiative, dodges, damage reduction
  • Probably not: One of the pools

Psyche

  • Psyche is used

Perception

  • Yes: Mental+magical strike/damage if not psyche, will pool
  • Maybe: Life pool, mental dodge

Awareness

Spirit is the hardest attribute to raise, but also one of the most potent. It represents the power of an individual's soul, intangible but very real.

  • Each point of Spirit costs the square of the number it's bein raised to in xp. It costs 1 xp to have 1 Spirit, an additional 4 (for a total of 5) to raise it to 2, an additional 9 (for a total of 14) to raise it to 3, and so forth.
  • No other attribute may be more than double your Spirit.
  • You may not have more Aspects than your Spirit.

Raising Attributes

Primary attributes are increased by spending experience points; secondary attributes increase as the primary ones do. It becomes progressively harder to raise stats as they get higher. Beyond experience costs, you are limited by the fact that no attribute may be more than double your Spirit.
