Newborn cerevates depend on the light of their home star to make full use of their powers. The Holocene discovered this, and when the Solarian Purge began, they left the Concorde to finish the Dyson swarm - an innocuous operation with hopefully disastrous results for mankind. Adam fell before then, however, and Ouranos Prime scorched the swarm only moments after. The incident weighed strongly in the decision to flee - beginning the Diaspora.

The First lost their star system along with their Universe. The renlai had their system destroyed in a titanic battle during the initial phases of the Renlaic Purge. Eve moved and hid Sol, now called Lost Sol, leaving the Shadow as the only cerevate race with a home star system intact.

The fallen do not appear to be affected by such things, or, perhaps, the Hellskearn becomes their home. Once a cerevate awakens, they are free from such limitations.
