In the Latin form, astrum parvulus means 'star child'. It represents the pinnacle of a human's evolution, and requires a very advanced state of mind to properly maintain. Each of the currently competing cerevate races has such a likeness, sometimes referred to as delta-grade beings as it came out of the Delta project. The Renlai call theirs the xuanhai, and the First's are simply called the starborn. Those of the Shadow are sometimes referred to as umbra parvulus instead.
