Veldt

Veldt would have a hard time imagining a better situation to be in. Like the Sisters that have developed a small name for themselves in Chiaroscuro, she too was on that doomed voyage to the Wreath of Lashes. Also like them, she has come to serve Alabaster, undergoing the same intense training, but has taken a bit differently to Zen's teachings. This difference is manifesting subtly, but it reflects in the differing duties that the Solar has assigned to her. Instead of helping to manage the Warlord's rather considerable military, her duty is to maintain his economy. As more men have joined up, Alabaster is moving most of the women to less directly confrontational roles - save for the elite. These functions include crafting, spying, and trading. While her espionage skills are far from honed at the moment, Alabaster's training has focussed more on providing trading and organizational ability. Information gathering will, unfortunately, have to come later. It is easy to underestimate the sort of edge Veldt has over the Guild, the Talaarah, and other merchant orders in or near Chiaroscuro. Under the banner of the Emerald Emporium, four thousand women perform hundreds of different crafts, switching between them on a dime as Alabaster or the market requires. Although technically not a secret, the Emporium's allegiance to Alabaster is never advertised. Alabaster's sailing training being incomplete, Veldt is also limited by her lack of contacts abroad. She plans on joining Alabaster in Nexus for the sole purpose of correcting this shortcoming, and getting a closer look on the Guild's own methods.
