Knowledge

The Knowledge background provides 6 bonus points per dot, plus 2 bp (8, 14, 20, 26, 32). It can be spent on:

• Arts and Art Specialties
• Magical Merits, which are:
  • Awakened Essence, Magical Attunement, Manse Attunement, Essence Awareness, Essence Recovery, and Essence Mastery
• Rituals
• Sciences

Any major or main character may purchase the background.

Lieutenant

The character has a loyal servant. Like the standard Artifact background, this is taken multiple times to represent multiple lieutenants. They often have both a motivation and intimacy regarding their leader, making them extremely loyal. They may not purchase the Experienced background, but they can purchase the Knowledge background normally.

●○○○○ - A standard Heroic Mortal or Heroic Ghost.

●●○○○ - An inheritance ●○○○○ Spirit-Blooded, or a Heroic with +24 bp.

●●●○○ - A standard 'modern' Dragon-King, a starting Outcaste Dragon-Blooded with -10 bp, a ●●○○○ lieutenant with +54 bp.

●●●●○ - A standard 'ancient' Dragon-King, a starting Dynastic or Lookshy-grade Dragon-Blooded with +24 bp, a ●●●○○ lieutenant with +54 bp. Note that this is roughly starting Celestial Exalted level, but Celestials are not allowed as Lieutenants.

●●●●● - A ●●●●○ lieutenant with +60 bp.

Necromancy

Necromancy is allowed as a background, to facilitate a repertoire of low-level spells. Each dot of Necromancy allows the purchase of one Iron Circle spell.

A character must have an equivalent rating in the Knowledge background in order to purchase this one.

Sorcery

Sorcery is allowed as a background, to facilitate a repertoire of low-level spells. Each dot of Sorcery allows the purchase of one Emerald Circle spell.

A character must have an equivalent rating in the Knowledge background in order to purchase this one.
