Demons

Humans (Awakened)

Yensa

Born Thomas Godfrey, he was one of the first humans to Awaken naturally, and among the most powerful of his time. Of questionable stability to begin with, Thomas eventually discovered that he was effectively immortal. While he could die, the condition was never permanent. He became narcissistic and megalomaniacal, deciding that he had no need to abide by the laws of society as no one could enforce them upon him. It was at that point that he took on the pseudonym Yensa.

Attempts to subdue him had moderate success at best due to his immense strength and virtual immunity to all manners of sedatives. Phenomenal regeneration made killing him difficult; the fact that his body would reconstitute itself elsewhere within a matter of days made it pointless. He was killed dozens of times, and as many methods of trying to make the condition permanent were attempted.

Yensa was eventually captured, and a method to deal with him was devised. Yensa's body was 'dismantled', and each portion was stored in a separate chemical bath. Those who have seen what's become of him say that the most disturbing thing is not the macabre assortment, or that his heart still beats. His eyes, each floating in its own container, follow anyone who passes.

Beyond even that, he remains quite conscious, as other Awakened have attested to. Yensa is filled with rage and hatred, and is almost certainly quite insane. A few attempts have been made to contact him, though he's never responded; whether he's unaware, incapable, or simply not inclined to converse is unclear.

Despite his fall, there are still a few people who revere Yensa in a distinctly cult-like fashion. He is so far the only being that could be called truly immortal, and to some people, that means a great deal.

Humans (Mundane)

Humans (Vassals)

Vadim Kyznetsov

The first known Vassal, and likely the first. He was responsible for the fall of St. Petersburg, disrupting the city's defenses to an extent sufficient for the waiting armies of demons to overrun it. Little is known about him personally, and his fate remains uncertain.
