The first attempt at an FTL drone fails, due to the [[mobius pattern]]s supporting it dying shortly after the drone exits the [[heliopause]] - widely considered to be the boundery of the [[Solar System]]. The drone quickly tore itself apart, and its remains are hurtling out of the [[galaxy]] at roughly 92% of the speed of light.

Construction of the Centauri Gate begins, and materials are sent to Alpha Centauri to assist the Centaurus Mission in building the remaining gate, though it will be decades before this project is completed.
