The tlorai are an ancient race, now long dead, now understood to be one of the many cerevate races that spawned in the Milky Way. Millions of years prior to the rise of humanity, they too developed radio, and were unlucky enough to catch the attention of one of the First, Mot. Mot never bothered to learn any details of the species, according to other primii.
Unlucky enough to reside so close to a black hole, he tossed it in their direction and never bothered with them again. In sorrow, they turned all of their resources to firing off probes to distant star systems, in hopes of preserving some of their culture and memory. While most of these were destroyed as heretical relics by the Dyrajt when encountered, one of them made it to Alpha Centauri, and was discovered in the early 23rd century. While very little data could be recovered from the Centaurus Relic, at least some aspect of their memory survives.
