Transhuman

Transhumanism is the philosophy that humans can, will, and should bring themselves to a higher stage of evolution, eventually making the posthuman. Often, the technological singularity is considered to be a part of the phenomenon.

In Solar Storms, the alpha strain, beta strain, and gamma project are all examples of transhumans. Alpha excelsior is an example of a posthuman, as there is no possible improvement to the range the strain offers given the constraints for being considered an alpha.
