Current State

The red planet isn't, anymore. Although terraforming is not quite complete, it is obviously reaching its later stages, as melting brings more and more water to the surface, and plant life slowly begins to take root. The world is not quite completely self-sufficient yet, but plans to be by the end of the century.

Martian gravity, being about a third of Earth's, turns running or even fast walking into leaping. Many arcologies make some rather interesting uses of this phenomenon, and various jumping contests, both motorized and not, are common. Those alpha strains that live on Mars are, of course, often reminded to keep working out their legs during the day if they don't have access to gravitational assistance.

Martian weather drives up large clouds of dust, but there are few clouds like those on Earth, though as plankton takes hold their frequency is slowly increasing - though it will never reach Earth cover levels. The sky has slowly turned from a butterscotch color to an earthlike blue.

Current Activity

Since the rise of Ouranos Prime, the Martian Government has created its own contests to draw interest away from the refugees. The most popular of these is the Tripod Contest, where teams make tripods in the vein of H.G. Wells' 'War of the Worlds'. Subject to certain limits (such as no wheels allowed), some of them actually come quite close, or even exceed, the abilities of those visualized in the various movies and other depictions of them.

Most of the Martian population is quite supportive of the war effort. The vast majority of Martians were friends with at least one of the casualties of the Jovian Massacre, and in an era where friends expect to know eachother until the end of Time, murder is an unpardonable sin. Only a few are concerned about the specific reasons the 'ungrateful scum' chose to rebel, over the fact that the citizens of Ouranos Prime resorted to killing to prove their point.

Future Plans

With the completion of the Martian Ring, the people of Mars have turned nearly the entirety of their effort to war. Few other projects consume so many mental resources as the design of new weaponry and ships, or physical resources as the construction of them.
