Haptigram

A haptigram is an electronium construct designed to represent one or more physical objects, with corresponding tactile, olfactory, magnetoceptory, taste, and other sensory stimulations, unlike a normal hologram. While theoretically capable of replicating any sort of electromagnetic effect or matter, the strength of the projectors themselves is a notable limitation - they may create what looks like a steel wall, but not necessarily its strength. When struck hard enough, either the projectors are damaged, or the wall fails, depending on the design.

While steel and even many 'magical' items can be constructed via haptigrams, the limits are still present. No projection system could withstand the stresses a powerful cerevate can place on it, and even engineered lifeforms are capable of wreaking havoc with weaker devices.
