Hologram

A term that eventually came to refer to any sort of free-standing volumetric display. Most such systems make use of various atmospheric effects, do not emit red light, and do not function in a vacuum. More advanced systems release gas or other particles and control them to produce red light and/or function without an atmosphere.

A more advanced system, if extremely rare, is called a haptigram.
