Travelling faster than the speed of light. This is not possible in a physical medium, so, in Solar Storms, humanity cheats through various means.
Tachyons were the first method so discovered, enabling faster-than-light communications over vast distances.
Stellar gates were the second method engineered. While all seven gates are finished on the Solar System side, only the Centaurus Gate is actually ready, though the Procyon Gate is nearly active.
Gravitic drives, properly constructed, can be used as a kind of warp-field drive. The first successful test was a coilgun-assisted experimental ship in 2208, which was able to achieve a barely-superluminal speed from the Sun's frame of reference, before the effects tore the ship apart. The dyrajt used carriers during the Contact War to bring massive fleets into the Solar System, using a far more advanced version of this technology.
Hyperspace is the medium through which tachyons travel, and could, in theory, be used to move a pocket Universe at a far faster rate than normal light. A 'primitive' use of thus method was engaged during the Contact War, however, this required an extensive control region, including a 'traitor' ship near Ouranos Prime itself.
