It was possible to walk from one end of the world to another through the massive arcology system, never setting a foot outside, yet, if one was fast enough, they would always cast a shadow from the Sun.

Many great works were built on Earth. The Terran Ring, called the Scar of the Sky by exiles and others, so overwhelmed alien visitors that they feared to assault the bastion of humanity, perhaps delaying the Purge by a decade due solely to the nascent civilization's raw industrial focus.
